Privacy Policy — PrivyTranslate (iOS)

PrivyTranslate is a privacy-first translation app for iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how PrivyTranslate handles—or does not handle—your data.

1. User Data Collection

PrivyTranslate (iOS) does NOT collect, harvest, or transmit any personal or sensitive user data.

Specifically, the app does not collect:

• Personal identifiers (name, email, account details)
• Translation text, prompts, or input you provide
• Text or URLs shared via the Share Extension
• Usage metrics, behavior tracking, or crash logs
• Device configuration details or location telemetry

2. User Data Handling

All translation operations are processed on your device or through provider endpoints you configure:

• Built-in Local Inference: The bundled GGUF model runs entirely on your device. No external servers are contacted.
• Ollama / LM Studio (optional): If you configure these providers, the app connects to the server over your local area network (LAN) using a configurable address (e.g., http://192.168.1.x:11434). All translation prompts are processed on your local server.
• OpenAI-compatible (optional): If you configure an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, translation requests are sent to the URL you provide. You are responsible for the privacy policy of that endpoint.
• Share Extension: The Share Extension receives text or URLs selected by you from another app and opens the translation interface with that content. No data is sent externally by the extension itself.

3. User Data Storage

All application data is stored locally on your device:

• Translation History: Recent translations are saved in the app's sandboxed filesystem.
• Provider Settings: Provider configuration and preferences are saved locally in the standard iOS UserDefaults.
• API Keys: OpenAI-compatible API keys are stored securely in the iOS Keychain.

This data is accessible only to this application. You can delete individual translations in the app, or uninstall the app to delete all local data.

4. User Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transmit any data to any party. PrivyTranslate operates entirely on device (except for network calls to providers you configure). No analytics or tracking SDKs are integrated into the application.
