Privacy Policy — PrivyFeed
Last updated: February 2026
PrivyFeed is a local-first, privacy-first AI RSS reader for macOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how PrivyFeed handles—or does not handle—your data.
1. Core Principles
- Local-first: Your subscriptions, articles, and AI index data are stored locally on your device.
- No data collection: We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on our servers.
- No tracking: We do not use any analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
2. Data Storage
Local Storage
PrivyFeed stores the following data locally on your Mac:
- RSS feeds: The feed URLs and titles you add
- Article content: Article titles, summaries, and body text fetched from your subscriptions
- Semantic index: Local vector embeddings for the "Ask this Feed" feature (only when enabled)
- App settings: Preferences such as Ollama URL, model selection, refresh interval, etc.
All of the above is saved in SQLite and UserDefaults on your device, accessible only to this app.
Network Requests
PrivyFeed makes the following network requests:
- RSS feeds: Fetches feed content and articles from the URLs you add
- Article web pages: In reading mode, fetches full article content to extract the body text
- Local Ollama: If you have Ollama installed, the app sends requests to
localhostfor summarization and semantic search
Important: All AI processing runs on your local Ollama. Your data is never sent to any external AI services.
3. What We Do Not Do
- We do not collect usage data or analytics
- We do not sell or share data with third parties
- We do not track your behavior
- We do not require registration or login
- We do not use ads or third-party SDKs
4. Third-Party Services
PrivyFeed does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The RSS feeds and articles you subscribe to come from websites you choose, which may have their own privacy policies.
5. Data Security
Because all data is stored locally, the security of your data depends on your device's security settings. We recommend:
- Setting a strong password or Touch ID for your Mac
- Enabling FileVault for disk encryption
6. Children's Privacy
PrivyFeed is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Policy Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app or through other appropriate means.
