Privacy Policy — PrivyTranslate (macOS)

This Privacy Policy describes how PrivyTranslate ("the App") handles information when you use the macOS application. The App is designed with privacy in mind: we do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data.

1. User Data Collection

PrivyTranslate (macOS) does NOT collect, harvest, or transmit any personal or sensitive user data.

Specifically, the app does not collect:

• Personal identifiers (name, email, account details)
• Translation text, prompts, or input you provide
• Your device's location data (no location permissions are requested)
• Usage statistics, user behavior tracking, or telemetry
• Crash reports or system logs

2. User Data Handling

All translation operations are processed locally or through provider endpoints you configure:

• Built-in Local Inference: The bundled GGUF model runs entirely on your Mac. No external servers are contacted.
• Ollama / LM Studio: If you configure these optional providers, the app communicates directly with the locally-running server at the address you specify (e.g., http://localhost:11434). All translation prompts are processed on your machine or local network.
• OpenAI-compatible: If you configure an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, translation requests are sent to the URL you provide. You are responsible for the privacy policy of that endpoint.

3. User Data Storage

All application data is saved strictly on your local storage:

• Translation History: Recent translations are stored locally on your Mac.
• Provider Settings: Your provider configuration and preferences are saved locally.
• API Keys: OpenAI-compatible API keys are stored securely in the macOS Keychain.

This data remains fully under your control. You can delete this data at any time by clearing history in the app, deleting the Application Support directory, or uninstalling the app.

4. User Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or disclose your data to anyone. PrivyTranslate does not operate a hosted analytics, tracking, or account service. Since the app does not collect any of your information, it is technically impossible for us to share or disclose your data with third parties.
